هدف اصلی این مطالعه تحلیل مقایسه‌ای نقش مؤلفه‌های اقتصادی و مؤلفه‌های فنی در بهبود کارایی مصرف انرژی در بخش خانگی می¬باشد. برای این منظور در این تحقیق با استفاده از روش¬شناسی مربوط به تحلیل¬های کیفی و پس از دستیابی به شاخص¬های اصلی مربوط به هر یک از مؤلفه¬های مربوطه، مبتنی بر داده¬های نرم مستخرج از نظر خبرگانِ این حوزه و کمی¬سازی این داده¬ها با استفاده از طیف لیکرت، با بهره¬گیری از تکنیک تحلیل ساختاری کواریانس (تحلیل عاملی تأییدی و مدل¬یابی معادلات ساختاری در لیزرل)، سعی می¬شود تحلیلی راجع به جایگاه مؤلفه¬های اقتصادی و فنی و نیز اهمیت هر یک از شاخص¬های مستخرج برای این مؤلفه¬ها در بهبود کارایی مصرف انرژی در بخش خانگی ایران ارائه شود. بر اساس نتایج بدست¬آمده از مدل مذکور، بطورکلی سیاست¬های اقتصادی (قیمتی و غیرقیمتی) از اهمیت نسبتاً بیشتری نسبت به مؤلفه¬های فنی و تکنولوژیک در حل معضل بهبود کارایی مصرف انرژی در بخش خانگی ایران برخوردار می¬باشد. همچنین وضع مالیات بر مصرف انرژی» در بین سیاست¬های اقتصادی و شاخص¬های «توسعه زیرساخت‌های دولت الکترونیک»، «توسعه کنترهای هوشمند و تجهیزات هشدار مصرف انرژی در منازل» و «توسعه الگوهای معماری بومی متناسب با شرایط اقلیمی مناطق مختلف کشور» در رابطه با مؤلفه¬های فنی-تکنیکی دارای بیشترین اثر بر کارایی انرژی در بخش مذکور می¬باشند.
