هدف این مطالعه سنجش تغییرات بهره¬وری زیست ‌محیطی کل عوامل تولید صنایع کارخانه¬ای ایران با کد دو رقمی در فاصله‌ زمانی 1393-1382 است. بدین منظور شاخص بهره¬وری زیست محیطی مالم‌کوئیست غیر‌شعاعی فرامرزی(MNMCPI) که نا¬همگنی‌‌های تکنولوژیکی میان صنایع را در نظر می‌گیرد استفاده‌ شده است. نتایج نشان می‌دهد MNMCPI طی دوره‌ مطالعه به‌طور متوسط رشد داشته است و بیشترین رشد در گروه صنایع با فناوری متوسط مشاهده می‌‌شود؛ همچنین هر سه شاخص تغییر کارایی فنی (EC)، تغییر بهترین شکاف عملی (BPC) و تغییر شکاف تکنولوژی (TGC) به ‌عنوان اجزای شاخص MNMCPI به‌طور متوسط رشد داشته‌‌اند. در گروه صنایع با فناوری متوسط شاخص  TGCو در گروه صنایع با فناوری بالا و صنایع با فناوری پایین شاخص BPC (اثر ابداعات) بیشترین تأثیر را در رشد MNMCPI دارد. در کل صنایع کارخانه¬ای ایران شاخص BPC بیشترین اثر را بر رشد MNMCPI دارد. بیشترین رشد شاخص EC در گروه صنایع با فناوری پایین و بیشترین رشد شاخص BPC  و TGC در گروه صنایع با فناوری متوسط مشاهده می‌شود. مطابق با شاخص TGC گروه صنایع با فناوری متوسط پیشتاز در تکنولوژی قلمداد می‌شود. مطابق با تحلیل رگرسیون، شدت انرژی تأثیر منفی و معنی¬دار و مخارج تحقیق و توسعه تأثیر مثبت و معنی‌دار بر بهره¬وری زیست محیطی دارند.
